McBrayer, McGinnis, Leslie and Kirkland, PLLC offers summer associates a unique and rewarding experience. Beginning in May and throughout the 10-14 week program our summer associates are encouraged to work with all our attorneys in every practice area from Insurance Defense to Planning & Zoning to Litigation to Health Care to Energy & Mineral Law. Within all areas of our diverse legal practice, interns may conduct research, draft documents, and attend hearings, depositions, oral arguments in appellate courts and trials. We strive to offer our interns the most in-depth exposure to the practice of law. Our expectation is that our summer associates will be self-motivated and self-assertive to supplement their own education and further develop their potential for outstanding legal careers.
Our law firm has received exceptional reviews from former summer associates and we credit it to the culture of our firm. During the summer program our interns will experience first-hand our firm's cohesiveness and our strong team environment. Our clients have come to anticipate the high level of respect we have for our teammates and they value our low employee turnover. We seek individuals driven by the same goals and values of our law firm and those willing to make a meaningful contribution to the firm, our clients and the community.
We seek second and third year law students who......
- Are actively involved in their community
- Show intangibles that exhibit a reflection on their character
- Demonstrate strong initiative and drive
- Work effectively in teams
- Manage time wisely to meet deadlines
- Develop creative solutions to client problems
- Have excellent written and oral skills
- Have attention to detail
- Maintain a strong GPA
As a summer associate at McBrayer, McGinnis, Leslie and Kirkland, PLLC you will be treated as a professional in training. We expect our interns to be eager and driven to learn so we provide a computer, internet access, a MMLK email, and reimbursements for out-of-pocket expenses, paid covered parking, and competitive compensation.
Summer Associates will receive on-going feedback during the internship from attorneys and upon completion of the program. The feedback is to serve as a resource for guidance on future work assignments. We encourage our interns to ask for additional feedback from all attorneys after completing every assignment. Summer associates will be assigned mentors, members and associates of our firm, to help them achieve the best experience and to answer any questions.
Our summer program is not all work. Social events between lawyers, interns and the rest of the staff take place on a frequent basis.
We do not guarantee employment with the firm upon completion of the program; however, many of our summer associates have received employment at our law firm.
