Ryan Colleen Daugherty is an associate
in the Lexington, Kentucky office. Ryan is a member of the firm’s
Litigation and Planning & Zoning departments, where she focuses
on Real Estate and Planning & Zoning disputes, as well as other
commercial and employment disputes and family law matters. She
is also a LEED Accredited Professional. She joined the firm in
2008 after graduating from the University of Kentucky Colleen of
Law. While in law school she served as the Notes editor of the
Journal of Natural Resources and Environmental Law, and worked
as a law clerk for E.ON-US in Louisville, Kentucky.
Since being admitted to practice law, Ryan
has successfully advocated for the firm’s clients in several Kentucky counties, as well
as to the Kentucky Court of Appeals and the Kentucky Supreme Court.
Recently, she has successfully argued before the Kentucky Office
of Employment and Training, Unemployment Insurance Appeals Branch,
resulting in the reversal of an improper unemployment award. As
part of the firm’s litigation group she has also assisted
members of the firm in the following matters: a successful 65.07
Motion for Interlocutory Relief from a temporary junction, in the
matter of Creech v. Brown, Fayette Circuit Court No. 09-CI-779,
a ruling which was later affirmed by the Kentucky Supreme court;
a successful motion to dismiss a contractual claim in the client’s
favor, in Faesy v. Durham, Franklin County Circuit Court 09-CI-1898;
and a personal injury trial which resulted in a multi-million dollar
verdict in the client’s favor, in Lambirth v. Flick, Fayette
County Circuit Court No. 06-CI-02088. As part of the firm’s
Planning & Zoning Department, she has also worked on various
planning matters in Fayette and surrounding counties.
In addition to her law practice, she serves
as a LFUCG Greenspace Commissioner, and is a member of the United
States Green Building
Council’s Advocacy Committee, currently serving as their
Legislative Task Force Chair. She also serves as a Race for Education
mentor, and was recently selected as one of five Emerging Leaders
chosen to attend the 2010 Louisville and Lexington joint Leadership
Expedition.
Prior to attending law school, she earned
a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture from the University of
Georgia, and worked as a Planner
in the engineering firm of Federal Planning Division of Post, Buckley,
Schuh & Jernigan, where she was one of the principal drafters
of a Long-Range Component for the Camp Shelby, Mississippi Army
National Guard Combat Readiness Center. Ryan is a member of the
Kentucky and Fayette County bar associations, and a native of LaGrange,
Kentucky.
