I have always had a passion for advocacy and challenging the status quo. The practice of law affords me the ability to do both on a daily basis. Every legal issue, especially in the area of medical malpractice, offers a unique undertaking because you must be a master of not only legal precedent and concepts but also multiple medical specialties. In the ever evolving medical and legal climate, this involves staying abreast of the most up-to-date advancements at the local, state and federal levels. I feel fortunate to have found a field that allows me to be a lifelong student.
I pride myself on forging personal relationships with my clients to assist them through the complexities of a malpractice and/or licensing action. Having had the opportunity to work in different sectors and jurisdictions, I am uniquely qualified with a broad expertise in all facets of health law. I apply this experience to every case and work tirelessly to reach timely and cost-effective resolutions for my clients.
I am a 2012 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law where I received recognition as the top student in my litigation skills course as well as a mastery award in legal research and writing. Additionally, I served as a clerk in the UK Healthcare Risk Management Office where I participated in the oversight and management of all medical malpractice actions against the medical center and its employees; engaged in clinical investigations of adverse events; and assisted in the education of institutional clients regarding ways to mitigate or avoid legal and clinical risks.
I was fortunate to broaden my experience and training at a premier medical malpractice defense firm in Cambridge, Massachusetts where I focused on medical malpractice defense litigation, healthcare law, and defense of medical professionals before state licensing agencies. In this role, I was acknowledged in both 2015 and 2016 as a Massachusetts “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers, which is an honor bestowed upon no more than 2.5 percent of lawyers in the Commonwealth.
