Being the son of two lawyers, Jack Seiffert wanted nothing to do with law as his career destination. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in history from Wofford College, his path ironically led back to his law roots as he decided his future. He graduated cum laude from the University of Louisville’s Louis D. Brandeis School of Law in 2017.

While his practice area is niche, it provides tremendous benefits, particularly for nonprofits, through various tax credits and nontraditional sources of capital and finance. Matters such as tax credit equity financing, reviewing and drafting contracts or agreements, forming new entities, economic development, and representing businesses in mergers and acquisition transactions are among his areas of expertise. Serving as a bond or issuer’s counsel is among his many commitments. He has a focus on Project Finance, both in traditional and non-traditional finance mechanisms such as traditional bank loans, bond financing, tax credit equity, assessment financing, and private equity. He works with clients who are both for-profit and nonprofit, working in industries that range from real estate development and housing, renewable energy, education, manufacturing, supply chain & logistics, and healthcare.

Jack is enthusiastic about working with non-profits to benefit communities. He enjoys seeing his past projects thrive such as the establishment of the new YMCA facility in Louisville, KY. Additionally, Jack understands clients need a patient attorney who can be firm, but also flexible. He recognizes the benefits of working well with opposing counsel and advocating for his client's own needs. He is conscious of the importance of explaining complex legal concepts in simple terms to his clients.

Capabilities, Successes, and Assignments

• Represented various entities across Kentucky and West Virginia in the New Markets Tax Credit Financings of multiple projects totaling more than $250 million.
• Represented the Kanawha County Public Library in the financing of its renovation of the existing Library facility, with a project budget of over $20 million.
• Assisted in the tax credit financing of two new hydroelectric generating facilities on the Kentucky River
• Represented Winterwood Inc. in the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Financing of their new facilities at 330 Newtown Pike in Lexington, KY, and Prichard Hotel in Huntington, WV
• Assisted in the financing of two hydroelectric generating facilities on the Kentucky River.
• One of a handful of attorneys in the Commonwealth who works in New Markets Tax Credits.
• Review and negotiate supply chain transactions for national liquefied natural gas (LNG) and energy companies.
